This 6.0 bulletproof package includes cylinder heads, ARP Head Studs, updated pushrods, and a complete upper gasket set. You’ll have everything that you need to replace the cylinder heads on your 2003-2010 Ford 6.0 Powerstroke. This kit can also be used to upgrade a VT365 International engine to make it more reliable. What you get
- Two loaded cylinder heads complete with all new valves, valve guides, valve seals, and valve springs.
- ARP 250-45202 Head Studs. (Available upgrade to ARP Custom Age head studs for $1,099.00)
- A Mahle 54450 18mm OR 54579 20mm head gasket set with head gaskets, intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets and water neck gasket. *Must specify size when ordering
- 16 OEM pushrods. – 6.0 pushrods were updated to a shorter length in 2008
Available upgrades for the 6.0 Bulletproof Package
- O-rings added to the cylinder heads – Allow for a better head-to-block combustion seal helping to avoid the problem of blown head gaskets.
- Manton 4130 Chromoly pushrods and high performance 120# valve springs. If you are tuning your engine for a higher RPM, higher boost and higher horsepower application. You should choose this upgrade. The stronger high performance springs will prevent valve float. Without them, in higher RPM applications, this can prevent the pistons from hitting the valves. With the stronger springs, Manton push rods will handle the additional stress a lot better than stock push rods.
Head Gasket Failures are the most common 6.0 problem
The 6.0L Powerstroke came equipped with TTY, or torque to yield, head bolts. Anybody considering performance modifications needs to replace these studs. The addition of a tuner alone can cause cylinder head pressures to rise beyond the capability of the TTY head bolts, ultimately causing head gasket failure. TTY bolts cannot be re-used and must be replaced after being removed from the engine. ARP head studs are included in our 6.0 Bulletproof Package.
Aftermarket ARP head studs are a must-have for your 6.0L Powerstroke if you’re seeking to add additional performance modifications. The stock TTY head bolts can last a while under factory conditions. Because of the layout under the hood, changing the head studs on the 6.0L Powerstroke is a problem in itself. It can take a long time, even for an experienced diesel mechanic.
